Barnsley brewer scoops award

The Rugby branch of CAMRA enjoyed a day in Barnsley to Present their 2012 Beer of the Festival to Yorshire brewers Geeves . The brewery which only starting brewing last year is unique in that it used to brew not on dry land but on a narrow boat!
Steve Heighton from the Rugby branch added 'This unique brewery is new to the scene and our award was the first one it has won. The cleverley worded ale called 'Coco canal mild' is a beautifully dark beer with a superb aftertaste. It was the winner by some distance.'
Steve then added 'There were over 300 hundred votes cast from the 60 different real ales at our festival with once again every beer getting at least one vote, such was the quality of the beers prepared by the organiser Steve Durrant. It was a public vote and we all agreed it was brilliant choice as the beer was superb'.
The beer will now go forward to a Northern regional heat for the 2013 Beer of the Year.
