Royal Oak, Dunchurch Road, Rugby

Just before Christmas 2008, Nigel and Barbara took over at the Royal Oak with great plans for the pub and they have not let us down! They have changed the pub from a run down, little used pub to a vibrant pub that now sells between 3 & 4 real ales and great large portions of traditional,  good quality home cooked food!.

The Royal Oak is now a place to visit; for those of you that don’t know where it is, it’s just down the Dunchurch Road from Rugby school, only a couple of minutes walk from the town centre. You can enjoy a real welcome and ambient atmosphere.

I’ve already said the food is great and Barbara’s roast dinners have already built up an excellent reputation in Rugby. Nigel has worked very hard on the real ale side; he started off by selling just one – Marston’s Pedigree. Demand soon meant he was looking to expand and installed extra handpumps now serving Wychwood Hobgoblin and Pedigree as the house beers and a range of guest beers to offer.

Recently Nigel and Barbara have won the Silver award from Rugby Borough Council in recognition for all aspects of the business – Congratulations!

Nigel has been fully trained and is qualified in cellar management under Marston’s Training programme although the pub is not a Marston’s house.

This is another great addition to the Real Ale pubs in the area and is well worth a visit.
