The following bottled beers have been delivered for the 2008 Beer Festival. We can not guarentee that all beers will be on at all sessions but we will keep selling them until they run out.

Australia
Pale Ale brewed by Cooper’s, South Australia – 4.5 %
Australia may be famous for selling tins of cold Kangaroo piss the world over but Cooper’s is a family owned brewery which has been brewing ales in Australia since 1862 and they are very good at it.

The Original Pale Ale is a robust fruity beer which they claim uses the ‘Burton-on-Trent’ style, though I couldn’t see any unions on their website!

Belgium
Duvel brewed by Moortgat, Breendonk – 8.5%
The classic strong light ale, many have brewed imitations but none have matched it. They say familiarity breeds contempt but despite Duvel being available in many bars around the world every time you drink one it is a wonderful experience.

When poured it is a straw coloured with a very large white foamy head. It is a smooth, refreshing drink with a slightly spiced or even peppery flavour and doesn’t taste as strong as it is.

Czech Republic
Budvar Dark brewed by Budvar, Ceske Budejovice – 4.7%
Dark beers seem to be under going something of a renaissance on the continent at the moment and Budvar dark is an excellent beer. Budvar is one of the few established Czech brewers that has not fallen into the hands of big multi nationals and consequently they are still producing excellent beers in the traditional style.

Dark amber in colour it pours with a sandy coloured head and has a taste somewhere between standard Budvar and coffee.

England
Porter
brewed by Dow Bridge, Catthorpe – 4.5%
Fosse brewed by Dow Bridge, Catthorpe – 5%
Centurion’s Ghost brewed by Dow Bridge, Catthorpe – 4.3%

Established back in 2002 Dow Bridge by Russell Webb a long standing member of Rugby CAMRA Dow Bridge has been very successful with their cask beers. Recently they have started bottling and this seems to have increased the complexity of the beers, so even if you have drunk them in the pub it is worth trying a bottle to see the difference it can make.

Germany
Original Munchner Hell
brewed by Paulaner, Munich – 4.9%
Munich is the home of what the English call ‘lager’ even if they didn’t invent it. Paulaner is the biggest brewery in Munich and in opinion one of the best. The Hell is an excellent straw coloured beer, with a white foamy head. The aroma is a pleasant mixture of malt and hops, it has a slightly hoppy taste and leaves a wonderful taste in the mouth. A great refreshing beer.
